THE WINTER STORM OF OCTOBER 2006

BIG SHOAL BEACH

These images were taken on BSB (big shoal beach) as the winter storm was coming in. Lake Huron was kicking up some big wave action. The winds started blowing pretty good. Even tho the temps were dropping, it was great being on the beach and seeing this storm.

Looking at a storm coming in on the water is very different than seeing a storm on land.

More Sept 2006 DI outdoor stair project

I decided to build a outdoor stairway down to the beach with rocks.
I still need to find some more flat rocks this spring.
Logan tried out the stairs and seemed to like them.

DRUMMOND SEPT 2006

Drummond was beautiful this Fall. Good colors. The Buleys got a new fireplace in. The dogs and I went for some good walks.
Pete and I did some more chainsawing and brush clean up.

Logan can finally climb a bit on the rocks. We do not go out on the beach rocks since
the knee surgeries. We stick to sandy beachs and level ground.

The deer finally got to my plants and ate all the flower and tomato plants!

Hooded mersangers at the shoal 9-06

I saw these birds on the shoal for a couple of days in a row.

I had to use to use the binos to see what they were.

they were HOODED MERSANGERS. Nice looking ducks.
the photo by Jameson is one I just picked off the net.

I have been looking into digibirding or digiscoping over the last few years. What you do is atttach a digital camera to an expensive spotting scope. my favorite site for this is:

MIKES DIGISCOPING AND BIRDING BLOG

his shots are amazing. I might spring this income tax return for a scope. I'm drooling now just thinking about it!

DI September 2006

More september shots in the woods.

The second picture is of a big hole under some rocks. The dogs
are always very interested and give the area a complete smell check.
Must be some critter that lives under there.
